WRITTEN COMMUNICATION: Writing a 100 words statement

Expressing light through my room
The intent of my work this term was to explore different ways to communicate my design ideas. I have focused on implementing additional sources of light by creating various models that demonstrate where new light sources are able to cast shadows into the space. Using light sources in my house such as a lamp, flashlight and natural light, I have photographed the models to project the openings and communicate the designs of the shadows to the viewer. I was unable to extend exterior walls to allow for new openings due to the space constraints of my room, however I was able to carve through the walls to allow for openings. Overall, the models have successfully demonstrated different designs to allow for light to cast shadows.

ONLINE TUTORIAL: Fusion 360 Materials

I find the materials I have applied within my initials reflect my personality best. My interest in nature is shown throughout the materials. I have used a pinewood material which is a natural sourced timber. I have also used a rough textured grass effect material and as well as a water material. All these materials best reflect my personal interests through the visuals of the environment being portrayed.

PHOTOSHOP MATERIAL

I have chosen bamboo timber for the two sides of the walls, and I have used birch timber for the other 2 sides. I have used a mix of different timbers to create a visual effect of a larger room as well as add to the textures. For the interior I used plywood as this is a thin layer shaping the interior aspect of the house.

I have used white tile cladding as I aimed to make this room more modern, which is evident through the framing of the large windows. I have used ceramic tiles for a smooth texture, as well as marble interior wall to compliment the sense of modernism through the aesthetics. To compliment the modern aesthetic to the room I have included clear glass panels through the opening.

I have used beige stone cladding as a material throughout the exterior of the room, as this creates an interesting rough texture through the layers. I have chosen PVC panelling throughout the interior as this smooth material will balance out the texture from the exterior to within the space.
